Surprise!

I toured several locations and I was told on the phone that I could tour this one. But , when I arrived there was no one there to let me tour the location. I was disappointed but impressed with the digital access and automatic locks. I was told that I could use my own lock and get a refund for the lock when I gave theirs back. However, The digital assistant told me that all these things were inaccessible to me until I paid the first month fee. I was apprehensive about renting sight unseen but the location was perfect and I went ahead and rented. That is when the issues started. When I arrived at night there were flying roaches all around the door. When I entered the facility there were these same roaches walking around in the facility. I was very concerned because I don’t want to come to my unit and have roaches in my clothing. I’m storing my wardrobe in the unit. So I chatted with the online system and they said they would get back to me. I called again. I chatted again. But, no one has and now I have called 3 times and left messages and nothing. Also, the lock is this cylinder lock so the locks I went and bought will not work so I can’t get a refund. I feel like I have been tricked. They called me 20 times to help me when I hadn’t rented. But now that they have my money there is silence! I’m very upset and disappointed.

I can't say enough about Cecelia at the Columbia, SC Public Storage. We began working with her in March when USC canceled classes. She stayed in touch with us for 2 months as we waited for instructions on returning to campus and retrieving belongings. At a time when so many were worried, Cecelia and Public Storage weren't something we had to be anxious about.

Great staff but--

Look, it's a safe place to store your things, the employees work hard, are clear and concise on their tours of the space and that's great--but a lot of the costs aren't optional and kinda pile up. I ended up never using my unit because I managed to find a place a week before I was set to move in and received no refund for any of it, ultimately making me feel mildly scammed by the whole operation. Places gotta make money somehow, I get it, I just came out of the experience feeling like I paid for a lock I didn't ask for and insurance I am required to purchase for a space I never used and that's not great.

I live in Europe and sold a home in the US. We initially stored our furniture from the home in a non climate controlled facility because the home sold quick and we had to move. I talked to a lady from your facility about needing a unit and we were in europe could we do paperwork remotely and pay via credit card. She said this was not possible but suggested my daughter could come in and rent the unit for us and we could take the unit over when we came in town. When my daughter went to do this the young man at the facility said this was not possible and we would not be able to transfer the unit directly to us that there would have to be a 7 day waiting period and during that Time anyone besides us could rent the unit but we could not because we are family. My daughter then left without securing a unit. Then I spoke to Diedre with your company who said the same thing the First Lady said and said we would be able to transfer the unit directly to us without a 7 day period we would just have to pay all fees as if we just rented the unit. So it was a bit of a hassle and my daughter had to make two trips but ultimately it worked out. I guess the young man was just not educated. I face timed with him and my daughter when she went to the facility and he also kept calling her sweet heart which wasn't very professional. I wasn't offended nor was my daughter but it was odd in a professional setting. Anyway we did finally get it worked out.

I could not have chosen a better place for storage. The office staff was friendly and helpful. I have no regrets in choosing Public Storage. The entire experience has been very positive, and I will certainly recommend this company to anyone.
