Public Storage - Newark - 6800 Overlake Place

This has been the best overall experience I have had with a rental space.

When looking for temporary storage for my travel trailer, I got lucky. My first call was tp Personal Storage in Newark, CA because it was close to my sisters home. From the assistance I received on the phone to the walk-through at the rental lot, the customer service was first-rate. Professional and courteous service has become rare but was present in every aspect of my experience with Personal Storage. The physical property was in outstanding condition and well-secured. I couldn't be happier.

I was in a rush before the rain started to pour down. I called ahead of time to make the paperwork easy. I was brought to my new storage home for my classic wooden boat to guard against the upcoming storms. Thank you so much.

Great place I feel comfortable using this storage

I feel that my stuff is completely safe in the storage unit the only inconvenience is that it closes early and you’re not able to get in and out of the gate at a certain time other than that it is clean there’s a lot of carts you can utilize to move your stuff I’m really happy with my choice to store my stuff here

The storage site appears to be new. It is well designed, with easy access and very helpful employees. The registration is uncomplicated. The layout of the property is close to one of the principal streets in the area, making for easy to and from travel. The person who helped us (Shadeep I believe) was quite pleasant, easily understood and more than willing to help in any way possible.

The operation hours don’t work for me they close so early I get off work at 5 pm I can’t make it by 6 I Thought they close at 9 pm like others I’ll stay for this Month only .

Very clean really nice facility!!

I just rented a 5' x 10' unit here at this facility. The price was great not to mention how impressed I was with the cleanliness thought the whole facility. Of course in in person inguiery customer service was great. But when I went in the office to let them know my entry code did not work mind you in person. I was ignored for 45 minutes and was talked to very rudely like it was my fault the code didn't work. I am very experienced in renting units with Public Storage and have not experienced such rudeness. I was told to try the code again knowing I did several times. When I tried to go back in the door was looked and the women there would not let me in. When I called there was no answer mind you I had two car vehicles fully loaded and was not able to access my unit. And yes I left early from work so I was there in plenty of time before they closed. I suggest if your interested in renting from this facility you just have to chose your battles. To be honest I will not rent or recommend this facility to anyone I know ever. I was so disappointed especially since I thought I found an amazing facility.

Elevators don't always work! Constuction dust on all my stuff!

Staff is generally pretty nice. Prices are ok. On 2 occasions I had to take the steps to the 3rd floor because the elevator was broken. Another 2 tenants and I discovered that if we walk up to the 3rd floor and press the button the elevator will come up. It was a mess!! At some point the location started to have work done on the ceilings. All of by belongings were covered with white dust powder!

Easy and quick setup, was moving into the unit in less than 30 minutes.

Elevators and Dolly's were backed up quite badly; one elevator was out of out of service. Would have like to see some more precautions around the cleaning of the elevators and dolly handles to protect folks moving things in and out. Unit and facility were clean and secure, very happy with our choice to store here.

Well organized, clean, and seems safe but I am not very happy with the rent. Because I know that there are some that are cheaper. I have a friend who rents a 10 x 15 for $ 84.00 at the same company Public Storage

Front desk was understaffed but they definitely tried their best to assist us as quick as possible, given the covid circumstances.

Be aware of the additional charges. You'll need to bring your own lock and buy one if theirs as well if you don't have the cylinder lock (on time $20 purchase if you don't already own one). You also need to have insurance on your belongings, which can range to an extra $11-$15/month. Otherwise this place is great, security is too notch and the place is really clean. You can do everything in a contactless way as well.
